The company set a new record of 24 months without lost time by members, reflecting the safety standards that Odebrecht Oil & Gas adopted at its operations

When it arrived in Brazil in December 2012, FPSO Cidade de Itajaí made a dream come true. The unit was the first Odebrecht Oil & Gas production vessel to operate in Brazilian waters and represented the consolidation of the Odebrecht’s position in this area of operation.

On April 12, the Business celebrated another historic milestone: two years without recordable accidents with lost time onboard the FPSO – a fact demonstrating the teams’ commitment to Safety as a value. The record helps Odebrecht Oil & Gas stand out from its competitors.

The involvement of Leaders – encouraged to understand their own role and how their daily presence is crucial for achieving positive results in safety – is one of the factors that Rodrigo Lemos, the Director responsible for the Offshore Production area at Odebrecht Oil & Gas, considers crucial in terms of setting the new record of two years without recordable accidents. “The pro-active involvement of the Safety, Health and Environment Team and work completed with the Work Permits (WPs), with an increased number of audits to guarantee that they are completed correctly, are also highlighted points,” said Lemos.

Lemos explained that the WPs are designed to be the planning of how the activity should be completed, which includes a risk analysis. “The quality of the WP reduces the risk of an incident occurring,” he added.

    Congratulations

FPSO Cidade de Itajaí is operated by OOGTK, a joint venture between Odebrecht Oil & Gas and Teekay Offshore, a company of Norwegian origin. To celebrate the milestone of two years without recordable accidents, members of the OOGTK Board of Directors, which consists of executives from the two companies, recorded messages that congratulate the teams for their achievement and reinforce awareness about the importance of a safe operation.

The FPSO Cidade de Itajaí began operating in February 2013 at the Braúna Field in Santos Basin, near the coast of Itajaí (SC). The unit has a production capacity of 80,000 barrels of oil per day, and since then, it has already produced 78.6 million barrels of oil.
