Built and operated by Odebrecht Oil & Gas in one of Brazil?s largest deep-water oil reserves, the platform has production capacity of 50,000 oil barrels per day

The Pioneiro de Libra FPSO produced its first oil barrel on November 26.  Owned by a joint venture between Odebrecht Oil & Gas and Teekay Offshore, the vessel is responsible for conducting long duration tests in the Libra Block located in deep waters of the Santos Basin, around 180 kilometers off the coast of Rio de Janeiro.

“This is a historic moment for Brazil and for Odebrecht Oil & Gas, which consolidates its position as a service provider driven by excellence, strict financial control, solid capital structure and superior technical quality,” said Jorge Mitidieri, Managing Director of Integrated Business Services.

The FPSO will be able to operate over the next 12 years for a consortium formed by Petrobras, Total, Shell, CNPC and CNOOC Limited. The unit operates in water depths of up to 2,400 meters and has daily production capacity of 50,000 oil barrels.

Since its baptism – in December 2016 at the Jurong shipyard in Singapore where it was built – the Pioneiro de Libra FPSO has undergone commissioning and sea trials. After reaching Brazil, the platform was submitted for approval by competent authorities, oversight agencies and Petrobras, which operates the consortium.
