    Of the 38 young students who graduated from the programs for Rural Administrative Assistant and Sugar & Ethanol Technician in Nova Alvorada do Sul, Mato Grosso do Sul, 26 are women

    Women gradually have been increasing their participation in the labor market, and the agricultural sector is accompanying this trend. Located in Nova Alvorada do Sul, Mato Grosso do Sul state, the Santa Luzia Cluster, which is owned by Atvos, has graduated two classes of professionals, with women accounting for 68% of graduates, or 26 of the 38 participants.

    “We’re very pleased with the strong participation by women in the two programs. We believe that it is our role to promote gender equality and to expand training opportunities for women in the workforce, whether they work for us or at other companies in the region,” said Danilo Bertoli, director of the Santa Luzia Cluster.

    Twenty-two young students – 16 women and six men – graduated from the Rural Administrative Assistant program, on November 22. In partnership with the National Rural Learning Service (SENAR), the program lasts 11 months and focuses on sugarcane production and administrative routines in agribusiness. Theoretical classes are administered by SENAR, while practical classes are held at the Santa Luzia Cluster.

    Women also were the majority in the class that completed the program on Wednesday, November 28, in the Sugar & Ethanol Technical Program offered in partnership with the National Industrial Training Service (SENAI). A total of 16 young students – ten women and six men – completed the vocational program.

    The program, which was launched in November 2016, qualifies young professionals to work in industrial laboratories, including registration in the Regional Chemistry Council (CQ), and in all phases of the industrial process. “The program was very important for my life and career. It opened the door to the company, and the classes increased my knowledge extensively. I can say that I am very happy and realized professionally,” said industrial worker Cíntia Oliveira Santos, a program graduate who already has been hired to work in the manufacturer’s juice treatment sector.

    “The goal is to recruit these participants in our job openings. They are very committed and value the opportunity, so we want them on our team. These two years of intense learning and engagement has produced highly skilled technicians,” said Rubian Zilmer, P&O coordinator at the Santa Luzia Cluster.
