Ocyan is holding a contest among its team members to choose a name for the new hybrid riser system solution for deep and ultra deep waters, temporarily called CMHR (Composite Multi-Bore Hybrid Riser). The new technology was developed by Ocyan’s Submarine Construction team and its partner Magma Global, which supplies composite risers. The winner will get a personalized tombstone trophy and their name will be announced on the company’s social media pages. The winner will also visit one of Ocyan’s FPSOs together with company management during the next scheduled trip to the vessel.

Each participant can send up to five names. The suggestions will be evaluated by a panel consisting of representatives from the Integrated Services Unit (UN-SI), as well as the Legal, Compliance and Communication departments. The selected name will be registered as a trademark (only the name, without the symbol) with INPI, the Brazilian patent office.

CMHR offers operators several benefits, such as reduced weight and load at the floating production units. With a decoupled solution, CMHR applies 80% less load than other solutions, resulting in a load difference of up to 9,000 tons per FPSO.  At the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) held in Houston, Ocyan and Magma announced a long-term commercial agreement to jointly offer the CMHR solution for deep and ultra deep water fields in Brazil.
