In face of the new coronavirus pandemic, we are facing a great challenge that affects the whole society. At this moment, Governments, companies and institutions are united with the purpose of promoting actions to fight the virus.

Odebrecht Group`s first commitment is with the health, safety and well-being of its members: “All Businesses received guidance on the prevention and medical assistance and on how we can develop our work, mitigating contamination risks as much as possible,” explained Ruy Sampaio, CEO of Odebrecht S.A., in a statement sent to the members of the Odebrecht Group on March 30.

As they always do in public emergency situations, Odebrecht Group`s Businesses promoted measures to support the communities where they operate: “This is a historic characteristic of Odebrecht. We are always together with our communities, experiencing with them their joys, anguish and challenges,” adds Ruy Sampaio in his statement.

See below some of the actions that the Odebrecht Group is taking to support the communities:

Atvos will provide up to 160 thousand liters of 70% alcohol to institutions in São Paulo, Bahia, Goiás, Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul.

OR made the Olympic Park facilities in Rio de Janeiro available to the authorities to be adapted as a field hospital.

OEC, OR, Odebrecht S.A. and Horiens made donations to the Federation of Industries of Bahia to purchase mechanical respirators for the hospitals of the State of Bahia.

OEC made available their construction sites at various locations to be used in actions to fight the virus. They offered their government clients in Brazil and abroad to perform emergency works with zero profit. In the Dominican Republic, donated two ambulances to health authorities. In Panama and Angola, OEC tanker trucks are being used for water supply and road disinfection. In Angola, through Biocom’s sugar-alcohol plant, they donated 20,000 bottles of 500ml of 70% alcohol to the Ministry of Health, and will donate another 20,000 directly to hospitals, day care centers and nursing homes.

OTP offered ambulances and health professionals in cities served by their highways and distributed alcohol gel kits to truck drivers. They will discuss with authorities the offer of free tolls for vehicles used in the anti-pandemic services.

The Enseada made available beds and ambulances for the communities, and evaluates with the Navy and Port Authority the transformation of its shipyard into a mooring terminal to install an equipment and goods distribution center for the Recôncavo.

Odebrecht S.A. offered Centrad, in Brasília, and the Fonte Nova stadium, in Salvador, to be transformed into field hospitals. The Fonte Nova stadium is already being used for the vaccination of the elderly population, in a drive-thru model.

Initiatives with the same sense of solidarity also occur at Braskem.
