The FPSO Pioneiro de Libra completed one year in operation in the Mero Field and concluded its first Long-Duration Test to assess the behavior of the oil reservoir located in the Libra Block. Environmental and safety indicators further attest to the success of the vessel, whose oil production has surpassed nine million barrels since its first oil, in November last year.

During this period, the offshore production vessel reached production of over 58,000 barrels of oil-equivalent per day (boed). The asset, which can operate in water as deep as 2,400 meters, has daily production capacity of 50,000 oil barrels and can compress and reinject 4 million cubic meters of gas per day.

“Reaching production of 58,000 boed with one well in ultra-deep waters is a milestone for the offshore industry, leaving us very proud of the success achieved in just the first year of operation,” commemorated Clarice Romariz, director of the joint venture TK-Ocyan.

Another positive indicator is the mark of one year without lost-time injuries on board, which attests to the high-quality planning from the project’s onset. “The result is the fruit of the team’s constant efforts and engagement since the beginning of the project and the operation. Our Recordable Incident Frequency Rate (RIFR) in the period was zero, which attests to the seriousness of the work and commitment of the entire TK-Ocyan team,” noted the executive.

Clarice informed that safety, TK-Ocyan’s core value, played a crucial role in the project since construction of the FPSO began, in late 2014, at the Jurong Shipyard in Singapore. For more than two years, some 4,000 people were involved in the project, including the activities at the shipyard, with over 19 million hours worked with no lost-time incident recorded.

In terms of environmental performance, the vessel has achieved various positive results, registering a gas burn rate of less than 3% and no leaks into the ocean of oil or chemicals. Today, a scheduled production shutdown for the replacement/interconnection of an injection well is scheduled, which will mark the start a new campaign of tests of the unit.

    TK Ocyan partnership

The product of a US$1 billion investment, FPSO Pioneiro de Libra is owned by the 50/50 joint venture formed by Ocyan and Teekay Offshore and is operated under a 12-year service agreement with the consortium formed by Petrobras (Operator, with 40%), Total (20%), Shell (20%), CNPC (10%) and CNOOC Limited (10%).

The partnership with Teekay began with the project to build the FPSO Cidade de Itajaí, which has daily production capacity of 80,000 barrels.
