The strategic location and operational quality played a decisive role in the winning of a new contract by Estaleiro Enseada. Today (08/20), the company received the accommodation vessel Safe Concordia (Unidade de Manutenção e Segurança (UMS) Safe Concordia, in Portuguese), pertaining to the Norwegian company Prosafe. The contract foresees the docking and maintenance of the semisubmersible vessel by January 2020, when it will move to the Campos Basin.

The operation began at dawn and was 100% successful. Navigation through the channel and docking were safely performed under self-propulsion, without the need for intervention by the two supporting tugboats. “Now we face a 5-Year Class Renewal Survey that requires a series of inspections and repairs. We chose Enseada due to its operational quality and commitment to deadlines, considering that the vessel will be operating in the Peregrino Field starting January 15, 2020” reveals Vinícius Campos, Prosafe Director of Operations in Brazil.

According to the shipyard’s Industrial Manager, Mário Moura, docking of the UMS Safe Concordia was the third maneuver of this type performed by Enseada in less than one year. “We perform these operations with the shipyard’s own team, allowing us to conduct these activities quickly, safely and economically. The docking operation took place just a few days after the departure of another vessel, Ocyan’s SS Norbe VI, which was at the shipyard since August of 2018 and had been under repair during the last few months”, adds Enseada’s manager.

Still according to the manager, in the upcoming hours the Enseada shipyard’s electric power will be connected to the UMS Safe Concordia and, consequently, the vessel’s generators, as well as its entire satellite communication system, will be shut down.

“We are very satisfied with this new contract, our first with Prosafe. This represents one more maintenance contract in which we receive a rig without the removal of the thrusters, although their removal is possible, in sheltered waters, approximately 20 kilometers away from our shipyard.  Another advantage offered by our industrial park is our supply of high-quality electric power (29MW and 69KV), which dispenses the use of the rig’s generators, resulting in a significant economy for our client”, reveals Carlos Tsubake, Enseada’s Commercial Director.
