Explore some of the initiatives implemented by Odebrecht Group Businesses

Since the rollout of a project until it is fully operational, one of our key concerns is people. Not just our team members, but the communities directly or indirectly affected by our operations.

Our Sustainability Policy highlights that focusing on sustainability means serving society while promoting sustainable development and improving the quality of life of communities where we operate. That’s how it is in all the Businesses and that’s how it is in all the projects executed by the Odebrecht Foundation.

Initiatives such as the Social Energy Program, launched by Atvos, encourage participative governance to promote the development of cities where the company operates. Through Community Councils, the Foundation prioritizes investments in four areas: culture; education; production activities; and health, safety and environmental preservation. In the following video, Mônica Alcântara, head of Sustainability at Atvos, describes the initiative. Watch it!

At the Odebrecht Foundation, the Program for Development and Growth Integrated with Sustainability (PDCIS) works in Southern Bahia through Family Homes, which employs an educational methodology directed towards the reality in the field. Hundreds of kids, youth and their families are benefited every year. Access the infographic to know how these rural producers are impacted by the work of the Foundation.

Moving from the field to the construction sites of Odebrecht Engineering & Construction, an initiative implemented by this Business works on another front: promoting integrated actions to combat the sexual exploitation of children and teenagers in the vicinity of construction sites and workers’ housing units, by raising awareness among team members and contractors and by training local public servants.

The Childhood Rights Program works in partnership with government and non-governmental organizations, such as Child Protection Services and Councils for the Rights of Children and Teenagers. Dialogue on the subject is held at construction sites together with the distribution of newsletters. The results are significant: 11,500 team members and contractors sensitized, five diagnoses made available to the cities where construction works are in progress and around 500 public servants involved. Support material for program implementation is available on the Sustainability Portal of Odebrecht Engineering & Construction

Our work with communities doesn’t stop here. Explore other initiatives that make a difference in the reality of people in 25 countries where we operate.
